About Waldstadion

The original Waldstadion — meaning "Forest Stadium" — was built in the early 1920s and opened in 1925, nestled within Frankfurt's city woodland. The venue was significantly redeveloped and rebuilt in preparation for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, reopening in 2005 with a striking retractable roof that is largely unique among German top-flight grounds. It hosted six World Cup matches in 2006, including a quarter-final. Decades later, it welcomed UEFA Euro 2024 fixtures, cementing its status as one of Germany's most important footballing venues. The stadium is known to locals simply as "the Waldstadion," regardless of its changing commercial name.

Eintracht Frankfurt's supporters are among the most passionate in the Bundesliga, and the Waldstadion's steep stands and retractable roof act as a cauldron for noise on matchdays. The south stand — the Südkurve — houses the most vocal ultras and generates an intense wall of sound. European nights here, in particular, have become the stuff of legend, with flares, banners, and relentless chanting creating an atmosphere that regularly draws praise from visiting fans and players alike.

Waldstadion is a landmark destination for live events in Frankfurt with a capacity of about 59,500. Whatever you're here to see, Staadly's verified listings and interactive seat map help you find the right seat at the right price.

By car, it is accessible from the A3 and A5 motorways, though public transport is strongly recommended on event days.
