About Stadio Olimpico Rome
Originally constructed in the late 1920s and early 1930s as part of Mussolini's Foro Mussolini complex, the stadium was substantially rebuilt and expanded ahead of the 1960 Rome Olympics, from which it takes its current name. It hosted matches during the 1990 FIFA World Cup, including the final between West Germany and Argentina, as well as the 1977 and 1984 UEFA European Cup Finals. The stadium has also been a regular venue for the Sei Nazioni (Six Nations) rugby tournament, hosting Italy's home matches. A significant renovation programme in the late 1980s saw the addition of a roof canopy and modernised facilities to bring the ground up to World Cup standard.
Matchdays at the Stadio Olimpico are a vivid spectacle, particularly when AS Roma or SS Lazio are at home. The two clubs occupy separate ends — the Curva Sud for Roma fans and the Curva Nord for Lazio — and both generate passionate, vocal support that reverberates beneath the cantilevered roof. Derby della Capitale fixtures between the two sides are among the most intense club encounters in European football.
Stadio Olimpico Rome is one of the most in-demand places to watch live sport and entertainment in Rome, with room for around 70,634 fans on a big night. Staadly lists verified resale tickets for every event here, all-in priced and backed by the 100% buyer guarantee.
