About BMO Field
BMO Field opened in 2007 on the grounds of Exhibition Place, making it one of the first soccer-specific stadiums built in Major League Soccer. Designed by Populous (then HOK Sport), the original venue held around 20,000 seats and was purpose-built for Toronto FC's inaugural MLS season. Significant expansion phases in 2014 and 2016 added a roof and increased capacity considerably. The stadium has hosted international fixtures including Canadian men's national team World Cup qualifiers, the 2016 MLS Cup Final, and marquee friendly matches. The closest public transport is the 509 or 511 streetcar to Exhibition stop, or the GO Train to Exhibition station on event days.
